FAQ

Questions, answered.

Everything you might want to know about how Select for Me works, what it does with your data, and how it's different from a regular food delivery app.

What is Select for Me?

Select for Me is an AI-powered tool that decides what to eat for you. It looks at the current weather, time of day, your budget, and a food profile you set up once, then recommends a single dish — either to order on Swiggy or Zomato, or to cook at home with a full recipe.

How does Select for Me decide what to eat?

It combines four signals: real-time weather in your city, the current time of day, your stated budget, and your saved food profile (diet, spice tolerance, allergies, health goals, favourite cuisines). An AI model reasons through these signals to recommend one specific dish, along with the reasoning behind the choice.

Is Select for Me free to use?

Yes, Select for Me is free to use. You don't need to create an account to get a recommendation.

Does Select for Me connect to my Swiggy or Zomato account?

No. Select for Me does not access your past orders or connect to your Swiggy or Zomato accounts. It recommends a dish based on context — weather, time, budget, your profile — and links you directly to search results on Swiggy and Zomato so you can place the order yourself.

Can Select for Me suggest a recipe to cook at home instead of ordering?

Yes. When choosing the Cook option, Select for Me generates a full recipe that fits your stated grocery budget, including ingredients with quantities, step-by-step instructions, estimated calories per serving, and total prep and cook time.

How is Select for Me different from Swiggy or Zomato?

Swiggy and Zomato are built to show you as many restaurant options as possible. Select for Me is built to do the opposite — it gives you one specific recommendation instead of a list, removing the decision fatigue of endless scrolling, then points you to where to order it.

Does Select for Me work outside India?

Select for Me is built primarily for the Indian food delivery market and is optimized for dishes commonly available on Swiggy and Zomato. It may still work for other locations, but recommendations are most accurate for Indian cities.

What information does Select for Me need from me?

Just your city (for weather) and an optional food profile covering diet preference, spice tolerance, allergies, health goals, and favourite cuisines. This is stored locally in your browser, not on a server.

Can I use Select for Me for group orders?

Yes, in the Order flow you can add group members with their own diet and spice preferences, and Select for Me will recommend a dish that works for everyone in the group.

Does logging in make the recommendations better?

Yes. If you log in, Select for Me remembers your past recommendations and what you picked, and uses that history to learn your taste patterns over time. It avoids repeating the same dish too often and leans into cuisines and styles you gravitate towards. Guest mode (no login) still works fully, but recommendations don't improve based on history.
